DT Curriculum Intent
Through our exciting DT curriculum, our pupils are challenged to become creative problem-solvers. Using their creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts.
Linking with our wider curriculum, our DT projects enable pupils to identify needs and opportunities and to respond by developing ideas. Combining practical skills with an understanding of aesthetic, social and environmental issues, pupils are given a range of opportunities to consider products functions and to reflect on, and evaluate, past and present design and technology. Over time, pupils acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Working as individuals or as part of a team, they learn how to take risks, overcome challenges and become resourceful, enterprising citizens and discriminating and informed consumers and potential innovators.
We will achieve our aims by:
- Teaching creatively
- Fostering curiosity through experiential learning
- Using enquiry based learning
- Using technology
- Engaging with the wider world
