Our Governors

Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school: strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable their school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.

Governors bring a wide range of skills and expertise from their professional lives to the governing board and schools benefit greatly from working with skilled volunteers.

Governing bodies are the key strategic decision makers in every school. Along with the Head Teacher, it is the job of a governing body to set the school’s aims and objectives around how the school will develop and improve. They set policies, formulate plans and agree targets to help the school achieve these objectives, as well as regularly reviewing their strategic framework in light of that progress.

Meet Our Governors

Our Governors  work closely with Miss Ridley, the Headteacher, who is responsible for the day to day management of the school.  The Headteacher is also a member
of the Governing Body.

All of our governors  act on a voluntary basis. They have three core functions:

  • Establishing the strategic direction of the school with the Headteacher
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

The governors meet each term as a whole group and at least once per term in their committee meetings. Every governor is also a member of a sub-committee. The sub-committees focus on  specific areas of school management and organisation- the curriculum and attainment of pupils and resources. They meet regularly and feedback to the full governing body. Some governors undertake to support certain areas as link governors and liaise with the member of staff who co-ordinates the area. Examples of this include the designated governor for child protection and safeguarding and the link governor for SEN/D.
