Eco Schools

Here at Mersey Drive we are committed to being an eco-friendly school. We are on our third Green Flag accreditation and are currently working on getting our fourth!

We have an Eco Club which runs every Tuesday, where children all the way from Year 1 through to Year 6 can get green-fingered and do important work around the school grounds.

Our Eco School Council meets each half term, and is made up of two members of each class - elected by the children at the beginning of each school year. These children represent their classes and bring ideas to the table, and implement them with the help of the teachers.

We teamed up with Communitree Initiative last year and developed a Forest School on our school field. This includes an outdoor classroom, a willow meadow, and safe routes among the trees for children to explore freely. Children take part in outdoor lessons within this space as part of the curriculum, as well as weekly welly walks in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
