At Mersey Drive we provide a computing curriculum that equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to enable them to become active participants in the digital world. Our curriculum is designed to balance acquiring a broad and deep knowledge alongside opportunities to apply skills in various digital contexts. Beyond teaching computing discreetly, we give pupils the opportunity to apply and develop what they have learnt across the wider curriculum.
E-safety is given high priority. A key element of our computing curriculum is to ensure that our children have the understanding and skills to keep themselves safe online. Pupils are given the information and guidance they need to access safe online spaces in order to benefit from all the opportunities that a connected world can bring them and to be able to use technology in a respectful, socially responsible way.
Our curriculum develops computational understanding and critical thinking skills across three key strands: Computer Science, Information technology and Digital Literacy:
Our curriculum supports our pupils to be confident, competent users of technology and provides opportunities to develop a broad and transferrable skillset.
