History Curriculum Intent
At Mersey Drive we believe that a high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our History curriculum will inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past, help children to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. We aim to equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
By the time our children complete their journey through our curriculum they will:
Have curiosity and understanding about the past
Know their place in time
Have a chronologically secure knowledge of significant key elements of British and World history
Understand the cause and effects of key events in time
Recognise and know about a diverse range of significant figures (of local, national or global importance)
